Wehther it's glass, hard plastic or stainless steel, reusable water bottles need to be properly taken care of to avoid any bacteria build-up. Disposable plastic water bottles are not made to be re-used, as they can start to deteriorate & can cause health risks.
1. Warm water & soap. The simple and classic way to clean your water bottle. Add a small amount of dish soap and warm water to the bottle, screw on the top & shake! Rinse the bottle out and leave to air dry overnight.
2. Vinegar. If your water bottle is in need of a deep cleaning, vinegar will be your saviour! Dilute 1/5 cup of vinegar in warm water and let it sit overnight in your bottle. Ensure your rinse thoroughly in the morning to remove any vinegar residue.
3. Baking Soda. A very affordable & effective method to cleaning your bottle. Make a 3:1 ratio of baking soda to warm water, creating a paste. Using gloves, spread the paste in your bottle and leave on for 15 minutes. Rise and let air dry.
4. Dishwasher. Most water bottles wlil be dishwasher safe but make sure it is marked as such to avoid any damage to your bottle or your dishwasher. To get a thorough wash, take apart each component of the bottle (top, straw, etc.)
