Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is a 2016 British play , written by Jack Thorne. Thorne based his script on the original novel by the Harry Potter series author J. K. Rowling", with British writer John Tiffany, and Jack Thorne himself. Preliminary performances for the play began at the Palace Theatre, London, on June 7, 2016, and premiered on July 30 of the same year. The play premiered at the Broadway Theater in Manhattan, New York, USA, on April 22, 2018, and preparatory performances for the play began on March 16 of the same year. The cast that performed on Broadway was not very different from the cast that performed in London's West End, with the return of Anthony Boyle, Sam Slimmett, Noma Demizuni, Bobby Miller, Jimmy Parker, Alex Price and Paul Thornley on Broadway.

The story of the play begins nineteen years after the events of the novel “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows” published in 2007. Preparing to enter Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The play was marketed as the eighth official story of the Harry Potter series.
