The book, which was edited and documented by journalist Khaled Abu Bakr, tells the story of the heroism of an Egyptian "reconnaissance group" led by Al-Mandawa, who has the rank of "captain" pushed by the Egyptian leadership since the beginning of the war to position themselves behind enemy lines and in the heart of their gatherings, near their main approaches and command center The main ones are in Umm Marjam and Al-Meliz Military Airport, in central Sinai, about 100 km east of the Suez Canal.

The book recounts in a smooth, attractive and interesting way how the Egyptian "reconnaissance group" succeeded in encroaching on the enemy's movements, dwellings and mechanisms in the depth of Sinai, and contributing to the early detection of its intentions for a period of six months that began with the last light on October 6, 1973.

It also reviews the strenuous efforts made by the Israeli forces to arrest the group’s heroes, using all their technology, but they failed, and Captain Osama Al-Mandouh returned with his men safely to Cairo to be received by Field Marshal Ahmed Ismail, Minister of War and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces - at the time - in his office and imitate them highest honors...

One of the most important features of the book "Behind the Enemy Lines" is that it clearly reveals the accuracy of Egyptian planning in the glorious October War, and sheds light on the courage of the men of the armed forces in carrying out the tasks entrusted to them during the fighting, and also highlights that wonderful cohesion between our men behind the lines and the Egyptian citizens from The Sinai tribes, who were good enough for them to carry out those great tasks, until victory was achieved
