In 1996, The Millionaire Next Door was published, and it was a great book for its time. Written by Thomas J. Stanley and William D. Danko. The book describes how ordinary middle-class citizens became millionaires, and they did so without Donald Trump, Steve Jobs, or Gordon Gekko from Wall Street. They weren't movie star millionaires, rock stars, or professional sports players. They became middle-class millionaires by having a good education, living in a modest house in an upscale neighborhood, driving reasonable cars, saving money, and investing regularly in the stock market
