Who am I to tell you how to become a confident communicator? Well, I've been around for a long time and have experienced the ups and downs that life has thrown my way. I trained to be an actress, which has enabled me to develop my voice, use my body language, and expand my imagination for the work I'm doing now. Acting gives you confidence and helps you connect with others, which is vital in life. After leaving the world of television and radio, in the mid-1980s I founded Public Image as a company specializing in image building, public speaking, speech writing, interview and presentation techniques. My work puts me in contact with different types of people in different countries around the world, so I had to learn to have confidence to travel alone and meet people I didn't know in exotic cities around the world. It's fun and exciting, and the older you get, the more confident you'll find, and the more fun life will be.

In 2005 I began my oldest training in international etiquette and modern etiquette, realizing that these basics are unfortunately missing in public, business and private life. In 2013 Public Image merged with The English Manner to form The Etiquette Connection. We now have offices in China, India, California, Russia, UAE, Kenya, Ghana, Nigeria, Tanzania and Mauritius. Our clients have expanded to include businessmen, ladies, fathers, students, teens, children, as well as politicians from Trinidad and Tobago, Senators of Jersey, First Ladies of Nigeria and members of various royal families. I come from a family of four, have two children, five grandchildren, many nephews and nieces, and many great-grandchildren. I am fortunate as I believe that my extended and close family helped me to understand young people and enabled me to help them gain confidence and self-belief.

The goal of this book is to give you hints and tips on how to communicate in a wide range of situations with all different classes of people. True confidence is something we should all strive for. We are born optimistic and confident that someone will feed and take care of us, but that confidence can weaken as we get older: our families, school friends, and colleagues can all help undermine and build our confidence and self-esteem as we go on. The secrets of this book will help you overcome fears, complexities, and self-doubt and give you the tools to communicate with confidence. I've covered topics ranging from style, clothing, relationship making, public speaking, meeting management, customer service, media, talking to kids and entertainment, to name a few.
