This book is not an anti-motivational book. Some of the people I admire most are motivational writers and thinkers - people like Edward Dice, William Kahn, Carol Dweck, who have developed theories on self-determination, personal participation, and growth mindset, respectively.

And this book is not against quotes either, some quotes are very insightful, and I always enjoy Christopher Columbus' famous words ("You'll never be able to cross the ocean, if you don't have the courage to look away from the shore") and William Ward's quote: (“Being grateful and not expressing it is like wrapping a gift and not giving it.”) WC Fields’ immortal words: “If you don’t succeed on the first try, try, then try again, and give up, there is no point in being a fool And you're trying to make it happen.").

Simply put, this is a book against motivational bullshit. I wrote it to counter the unwiseness of absolute quotes and sayings, which are either untrue, or they are full of holes.

It is important to note that the critical, and perhaps even cynical, approach which I take in this book is not an attack on the utterances of those words we are discussing. They are the statements adopted by motivated people in ways that generalize these statements, or oversimplify things, or mislead people, even if unintentionally.

In fact, I'm also guilty of doing this in the past, I've included some of these quotes (and others) in articles, books, speeches, and workshops I've done before, I've also made some social media posts, hung up posters, and changed the wallpaper My laptop has those quotes. and at times I followed the advice diligently, as I often ignored it, I did all that and more, ignoring my suspicions all the time that none of these quotes were quite true; This is because, in fact, many of them were incorrect.

And that's really what the book is about, it's not a hypocritical self-help guide, nor is it a transcendent study of how you can live a better life, it's just an attempt to right the wrong, no matter how much everyone welcomes it
